The Story Behind
How Casa Tejo Was Born
…and yes, it all started at a party 😄
It all began one unforgettable evening at a vallenato party, sitting with my dear friend Marlon, someone I love dearly and who has been a very special part of this journey. Between music, laughs, and probably a little too much dancing, his brother-in-law casually said, “Let’s go play rana at a friend’s house.”
And just like that—boom—memory unlocked. I suddenly remembered my childhood in Colombia, watching my dad play tejo and rana. That mix of noise, laughter, and flying metal discs stayed with me.
So I did what any curious (and slightly obsessed) person would do… I searched ALL over Canada. And guess what? Nothing. Not a single place. Zero. Nada.
That’s when I thought: Okay… if it doesn’t exist, I guess I have to build it.
Next thing I knew, I was on a trip to Colombia, figuring out how to bring this crazy idea to life. Marlon, of course, stayed right by my side—helping build the boliranas and proving that real friendship is strong, loyal, and shows up when things get real.
Then comes Jeff T.—another incredible person who has played a truly special role in both my life and the journey of Casa Tejo. Because of him, Casa Tejo found a place where this dream could begin to become reality. Jeff was there with me every step of the way—looking at locations, searching for the perfect clay, making calls, asking questions, and helping turn what once felt impossible into something real. His support, dedication, and belief in this vision gave Casa Tejo not just momentum, but a true place to grow.
And I can’t forget José Valera, who despite having such a busy life, has supported me immensely.
To them—my love and endless gratitude. And above all, I thank God for His protection, guidance, and love every step of the way.
Because at the end of the day, Casa Tejo isn’t just a place…
It’s friendship. It’s culture. It’s roots.
And maybe… just maybe… it all started with one simple invitation:
“Let’s go play.”
